“The Green Chair.” 5.5×8.5 in. Pencil and oil pastel on grey paper.

FOR SALE: $50 plus shipping.

We are at the farm and my wife and her mother were chatting. The green chair is my mother-in-law’s favorite spot to sit. It is actually a floral design but there’s no way I could have shown you that with oil pastel as they are like drawing with fingertips. My wife was sitting on the blue sofa feeding our 3-month-old son. I enjoy their poses and body language-they seem to evoke a story by themselves. I also love the looser drawing marks in this one. I think I felt a bit rushed because I didn’t know when one of them was going to move along. People are very intimidating to draw but when things work out it sure is satisfying!

Until tomorrow.
